E. Marjorie Reed, 95 Village at Morrisons Cove, formerly of Altoona, went to be with the Lord, Thursday at her residence.  Margie was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Walter and Ethel (Woods) Ramsey.  She married John N. “Duke” Reed on June 20. 1939. 

 

Margie is survived by her grandchildren; Julie Russell (Scott), Jana Mock (Terry) and John Taylor (Kristin), great-grandchildren; Tessa Robley (Andrew), Thayne Russell, Alexa Mock and Landon Mock and special friends; Lillie Negley and Luci Russell.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Margie K. Linn and twin brother, Robert Ramsey.

 

Margie was a 1935 graduate of Altoona High School and attended Marshall University in Huntington, WV.

 

Margie retired as a teacher’s aide from the Altoona School District after 16 years of service. She previously taught private dramatics lessons.  She enjoyed public speaking , golf and following Altoona High School and Penn State sporting events.

 

She was a member of First Church of Christ where she taught Kingdom Builders class and taught Sunday school for over 50 years.  She was also a member of YWCA, Altoona Women’s Club and Quota Club.


Service
Friends will be received from 10 am until a Noon funeral Service, Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at First Church of Christ, 113 Good Shepherd Road, Altoona, PA 16601 by Pastor John Collins. Interment will be at Alto Reste Cemetery.
