Melda Nadine McCaughan, 91, of Juniata, died
Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at her residence.
She was born on November 10, 1918 in Altoona, the daughter of the late
Harry David and Goldie Tiley. Melda
married Roland McCaughan in June, 1972 in Juniata. He preceded her in death. She was a member of Grace Brethren
Church. Melda retired after 36 years of
service as a legal secretary for Gibboney and Gibboney Law Firm. She was previously employed by Attorney John
Strawmire, Attorney Martin Goodman and Attorney Kenneth Vaughn. Melda enjoyed animals, gardening, and
collecting dolls and bears. She was a
member of Aid for Animals Laws for Paws.
Melda is survived by her daughters, Christine A. Minnigh and Apryl J.
Caldwell and husband Steve, all of of
Altoona, and grandchildren, Rachael M. Witt of Hawthorne, FL and Angela T.
Miller Barney and husband Timothy of Ellenville, NY. Friends will be received from 6-8pm on Monday,
June 7, 2010 and from 10-11:00am on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at E. Merrill Smith Funeral
Home, Inc., 2309 Broad Avenue, Altoona.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday at the funeral home
officiated by Pastor Rodney Lingenfelter
and Pastor Kathy Colebank. Interment
will be held at Alto Reste Park. In
remembrance of Melda, those who wish may make contributions to Aid for Animals
Laws for Paws, P.O. Box 164, Altoona, PA, 16601.
Service
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday at the funeral home officiated by Pastor Rodney Lingenfelter and Pastor Kathy Colebank.
