Richard Paul “Dick” Imler, Sr., 81, of Altoona, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at ARHS Altoona Hospital Campus. He was born March 27, 1928 in Altoona, the son of the late Lester Paul and Christine (Brubaker) Imler. Dick married Betty J. Cramer on June 18, 1950 in Altoona. She preceded him in death on February 25, 2006. Dick was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hollidaysburg. He retired as owner/operator of Imler’s Agway and was previously co-owner of Imler’s Poultry with his brother, Fred. Dick was a 1946 graduate of Altoona High School and a 1950 graduate of Penn State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Poultry Husbandry. He enjoyed woodworking, his cats, Penn State Football, and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Dick served as Blair Township Supervisor for 19 years, was a member of Duncansville Kiwanis, Penn State Alumni Association, and the Jaffa Shrine. He is survived by his children, Richard P. Imler, Jr. and wife Sheryl, Susan G. Stoyanoff and husband John, Mary Ann Moyer and husband Al, all of Duncansville, Scott A. Imler and wife Donna of Hollidaysburg, Tamia J. Baricevic of Meadville, grandchildren, Jonathan, David, James, Korynn, Alex, Matthew, Lucas, Andrew, Cassie, Hilary, Danielle and Raechel, and his brother, Fred N. Imler, Sr. and wife Joann. He was preceded in death by his parents, his granddaughter, Marietta, and his brother, Darell L. Imler. Friends will be received from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm on Saturday, February 27, 2010 and from 12:30pm – 1:30pm on Sunday, February 28, 2010 at E. Merrill Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 2309 Broad Avenue, Altoona. A funeral service will be held at1:30pm at the funeral home on Sunday officiated by Rev. Brinton L. Shafer. Interment will be at Alto Reste Park. In remembrance of Dick, those who wish may make contributions to the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA, 16602.

A funeral service will be held at1:30pm at the funeral home on Sunday officiated by Rev. Brinton L. Shafer.
