Shirley Mae Cornelius

Shirley Mae Cornelius, 76, of Altoona, died Monday, February 22, 2010 at Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg.  She was born July 6, 1933 in Altoona, the daughter of the late Roy Francis and Idella Mae (Kemberlin) Grove.  Shirley married Clarence Cornelius.  He preceded her in death.  Shirley was a homemaker.  She attended Altoona High School.  Shirley enjoyed her birds and cats, and playing cards.  She is survived by her sisters Patricia Krusey and husband Charles of Summerville, SC and Catherine Grove of Altoona, and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her sisters Margaret L. Helsel and Dorothy R. Gerrick.  Friends will be received from 6:00-8:00pm on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at E. Merrill Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 2309 Broad Avenue, Altoona.  A funeral service will be held at 8:00pm on Thursday at the funeral home officiated by Pastor Jim Balzano.  Interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.  In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make contributions to Southern Care, Inc., Hospice Program, 820 East Main Street, Roaring, PA, 16673.

A funeral service will be held at 8:00pm on Thursday at the funeral home officiated by Pastor Jim Balzano.
